John Deere’s 7400 TerrainCut mower is a new concept machine developed following extensive customer feedback in Europe and the US, and it will be shown on the Double A Trading Company’s stand. Designed as a rotary alternative to the company’s established 2653B utility mower, the three-wheel drive 7400 features a 36 HP turbocharged diesel engine and three independent 27 inch rotary decks, constructed of 10-gauge steel, with an innovative ‘Width on Demand’ system. This allows the operator to adjust the working width of cut from 68 to 74 icnh while on the move.
In practice, the 68 inch cutting width can be used in undulating terrain, for side-hill operation and for areas where tight turns are required, while the 74 inch cutting width can be employed whenever conditions allow higher workrates. The rotary decks are easily lifted and lowered by a single lever joystick.
The mower’s TerrainCut Reach system allows either the front left or right hand deck to be shifted up to 15 inch beyond the full cutting width. This allows the machine to safely trim around potentially hazardous landscape features, while keeping the mower’s centre of gravity in a more consistent and stable position. Cutting height can be adjusted quickly and easily without the use of tools, from 1 to 4 inch in ¼ inch increments.
The latest RS48-11C Tru-Turf roll ’n’ spike greens roller will also be on the stand. The roller incorporates an innovative patented triple offset roller system designed to smooth the turf by its action rather than by using its weight. The Honda 6.5 HP engine is coupled to an Eaton 11 transmission to cope with the toughest of operating conditions. Between the triple offset green smoothing rollers and vulcanised rubber coated drive roller is mounted the spiker roller working to 30 mm deep, this gently opens up the surface.
Growing Concern Scotland is committed to the demands of today’s landscape requirements, offering an integrated landscape management system – consultancy, management, and contracting – which addresses issues of continuity and efficiency, professionalism, quality and planning, while respecting environmental issues.

The blowers feature a dynamically balanced aluminium impeller which provides superior air flow while requiring less energy to drive it. Its light weight also reduces drive belt loadings reducing parts replacement and maintenance.
A large roller carries the blower over the ground and prevents marking or damage to turf even in the worst conditions. And the standard specification also includes a 180 deg and an angled air deflector. Both deflectors can be operated hydraulically.
The heavy duty low-decibel range is made up of four models requiring tractors rated from 16 to 45 HP+ while providing airflow values up to 12,500 CFM. Prices range from £2,995 to £4,595.
